Mick Stephen did an exceptional job to prepare the Giltinis for their debut season. He co-ordinated fitness and strength programs for players in multiple countries while COVID-19 was keeping the new squad apart.
It was a great sign of the professionalism and skill he developed for three years at the NSW Waratahs where he ran Strength and Conditioning in 2019 and was Head of Athletic Performance for their Academy in 2018 and 2020.
He’s a performance coach on the rise and ran training camps for the Australian Under-20s last year before the COVID-19 disruptions cancelled the World U20 Championships in Italy.
He built a strong relationship with first-year Giltinis head coach Darren Coleman when they worked together at the NSW Country Eagles (2015-18) in Australia’s second-tier National Rugby Championship.
Stephen gained his grounding at Australia’s Randwick Rugby Club (2014-17) where he rose to High-Performance Manager.
