Stephen Hoiles will bring all the skill-based acumen he displayed as a Wallabies

backrower for 16 Tests to his role as Giltinis’ head coach.

Like General Manager Adam Freier, he grew up with the running rugby ethos of
Sydney’s famous Randwick Rugby Club.

He played over 100 Super Rugby games and was a starter in the NSW Waratahs’
historic championship victory of 2014. He also played for Australia at sevens and was
hands-on as assistant coach of Australia’s men’s sevens side in 2018-20.

As well as a skilled Rugby player, Hoiles is known to be an excellent communicator,
following his time as a TV commentator and presenter for FOX Sports.

Following his role as Senior Assistant Coach in the Giltinis 2021 MLR Championship,
Hoiles was promoted and appointed as Head Coach until the end of the 2023
Season.

He partnered foundation coach Darren Coleman in establishing the Giltinis’ enviable
playing roster, team culture and standards right from the start so he has the hands-on
understanding of what makes the Giltinis tick.
